Roller compacting
Neue Materialien Fürth GmbH
Neue Materialien Fürth GmbH's technology centre is equipped with a roller compactor for the dry agglomeration of metal bulk materials. This process permits the binder-free production of granules of a specified size.
HOW ROLLER COMPACTING WORKS
The bulk material is drawn in between two rollers rotating in opposite directions and compacted entirely by physical means at high pressure in the roller nip. The rollers are cooled by water, preventing the bulk material from heating up.
The flakes formed as a result are comminuted to the required granule size in a granulator located downstream. A screening machine separates the fine fractions from the granules, which are automatically recycled back into the process.
ADVANTAGES OF ROLLER COMPACTING
- Binder-free granulation
- Improved flowability for downstream metering processes
- Prevents mixtures of different powdered materials from separating
- No expensive subsequent processing/drying required for the granules
- Large mass flows continuously processed
- Low heat generation
