Investment casting process simulation

Neue Materialien Fürth GmbH

Modelling and computer-aided methods are used for investment casting at Neue Materialien Fürth GmbH for the following purposes:

  • Designing gating and feeders
  • Simulating the casting process and the solidification behaviour
  • Establishing microstructure parameters and defect distributions (porosity, shrinkage cavities)

One of the characteristics of investment casting is that heat is emitted primarily by radiation. This is reflected in the computation.

Neue Materialien Fürth GmbH (NMF) is a national research center of the Bavarian State. We transform cutting-edge materials and manufacturing methods into industrial solutions.
