Bachelor's dissertation/project on lightweight design by sheet metal forming

Subject: Qualification of innovative lightweight materials for use in vehicle bodywork construction

As part of a strategy by the automotive industry to develop lightweight solutions for vehicle construction, a research project is to be conducted into the manufacture of a joint element for use in bodywork construction.

For the purpose of this research, tests will be conducted to measure the fatigue properties of materials. The findings regarding the properties of the different materials are to be compared and analysed, and their potential for use as a joint element is to be evaluated with regard to their advantages over conventional materials.
