SELECTIVE LASER MELTING

The SLM-process uses the energy of photons to generate lattice vibration for melting raw material. Compared to the SEBM-process, systems with reduced beam diameter and smaller powder fractions are available for SLM. This leads to improved surface quality and reduced post-processing time. The SLM process takes place under protective gas and thus reduces the evaporation of alloying elements during the melting step. The SLM-process is suitable for processing aluminum alloys, steel and low-melting Ni-based superalloys.

ABOUT US

Neue Materialien Fürth GmbH (NMF) is a national research center of the Bavarian State. We transform cutting-edge materials and manufacturing methods into industrial solutions. Our 3000 m² testing field is equipped with large-scaled industrial facilities. The scope of our work is not limited to research – we also manufacture prototypes and small batches.

Neue Materialien Fürth GmbH is linked with Neue Materialien Bayreuth GmbH and the University of Erlangen (Universität Erlangen/FAU).
